The CGH Group delivers storage tanks with a helicopter

The CGH Group delivered 2 x 20 m³ underground gas tanks to supply a newly built ski hotel in Zermatt (Switzerland) with biogas. A heavy duty helicopter was used to safely deliver these tanks to the top of the mountain.

Somewhere behind the dense cloud cover there is “The Matterhorn”– often referred to as “The Mountain of Mountains” in the Swiss Alps.

Quite spectacular project at an amazing location!

On a side note, several people at CGH can’t wait to hit the slopes again!

After years of setting up international partnerships through Europe, Africa and Asia it’s really satisfying to have set-up a strong long term belgian partnership with Colruyt Group – DATS24.

The CGH Group became a key supplier for DATS24’s underground equipment for building new petrol stations.

You can see 2 X 90m³ double wall underground tanks each with 2 compartments on the picture. The tanks were installed in « Wilrijk », a district of the municipality and city of Antwerp, only a few kilometers away from CGH Belgium‘s offices.

CGH Group committed to play a major role in the African LPG markets

CGH Belgium has recently delivered a 57 m³ LPG tank to one of the biggest truck manufacturing plants in Europe. The factory in Ghent (Belgium) building heavy trucks and cabins has a technical capacity of 200 trucks a day. CGH Belgium’s engineer Joris Lefèvre went onsite when the aboveground LPG tank was unloaded to meet the technical staff from the LPG contractor, the gas seller and the end customer. This was already the 4 th tank CGH delivered to this well-known international LPG contractor.

CGH Group committed to play a major role in the African LPG markets

CGH Group committed to play a major role in the African LPG markets.

Carbon intensive energy usage is damaging the African environment and potentially changing the climate. Urbanization is growing fast, and cities regularly suffer unbearable air pollution, now called the “new tobacco”. Deforestation is a huge problem since 2,3 billion people in 20 countries lack access to modern fuels.

Africa needs to move to better energy usage!

LPG or Autogas is the only alternative automotive fuel that delivers a wide range of benefits, including lower emissions, without having to compromise on vehicle performance and autonomy.

LPG is also the best substitute for wood:

  • LPG is far more energy concentrated than wood and transfers 50% of its energy content to the cooking pot, compared to the wood’s 10-20%.
  • Unlike wood, an LPG fire can easily be turned on and off and doesn’t emit choking smoke.
  • Burning wood is dramatically less carbon-efficient and consists of only 50% fuel. The rest is molecularly-bound oxygen plus left-over moisture. LPG, by contrast, is all fuel.
  • Switching from wood to LPG cuts the net-CO2 output to the atmosphere by 60%.
  • A typical 13 kg cylinder of LPG averts deforestation of a 6 m² forest area.

The CGH Group of companies are committed to play a major role in the African LPG markets.

The group combines the engineering, manufacturing and marketing experience in storage and transport of LPG, butane and propane.

CGH Polska designs and produces both above and underground LPG cylindrical tanks with capacities ranging 10m³ to 200m³. The production uses either AD2000 or EN13445 standards according to PED/2014/68/UE. The plant carries certificates from UDT, TUV NORD, GLOWNY URZAD, IS the Polish Welding Institute.

Its reference list shows LPG tank supplies in Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Gabon and in Bangladesh.

For the butane and LPG networks, complete solutions or so-called customer tanks are supplied with integrated safety equipment, including check valves and flow limiters.

For the storage depots and bottling plants, the large capacity industry tanks are supplied to customer specifications. Steel grades suitable for a temperature range between -40°C and +50°C guarantee the quality of the tanks both in tropical areas as well as in the Northern European territories.

CGH Belgium handles the African marketing activities for both tank and piping projects.

It engineers and supplies underground flexible non-metallic pipe systems for the transport of LPG, butane and propane fuels. These LPG-Flex®, Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes, are reinforced with Aramid fibers allowing a max operating pressure of 35bar/500psi. The pipes are non-corrodible, flexible and very easy and quick to install. Several hundreds of km are since 2009 installed in most European countries, in the USA, Bangladesh and Cambodia.

Combining high-quality storage tanks and state of the art pipe technology gives the CGH Group a head-start in the African LPG markets where wood urgently needs to be replaced with a more efficient and safer fuel.
